Apple’s App Store now has over 650,000 apps, has seen over 30 billion downloads


Apple kicked off their Worldwide Developer Conference 2012 today in San Francisco and the usual buzz around new products was high. Since it’s a developer conference there was talk about the App Store. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, stated the “revolutionary” app store first launched in July 2008 now has 400 million accounts, has over 650,000 total apps – 250,000 specifically for the iPad – plus 30 billion apps have been downloaded. What does this translate for developers, Cook stated that “We’ve written checks for over $5b for you guys.”
