Sonos has started sending out invites to major publications, including MobileSyrup, asking them to attend an event it plans to hold on June 6th in San Francisco, California.

Accompanying the invite is a picture (seen below) of several remotes, with the tagline “You’re better than this.”

Based on the image and a recent FCC filing, which revealed Sonos is working on “a high-performance all-in-one home theatre smart speaker”, it’s likely the company will announce an updated Playbase or Playbar with support for Amazon’s Alexa voice-activated personal assistant.

The FCC filing revealed the upcoming smart speaker will feature HDMI connectivity and microphones for voice control. When Sonos announced the Sonos One, it promised the speaker would eventually support Google Assistant. It’s likely that promise includes future products like the new home theatre smart speaker the company plans to announce next month.

Additionally, the new device likely the will support Apple’s AirPlay 2, as well; last week, Sonos confirmed the Sonos One, Play:5 and Playbase, as well as new speakers the company plans to release in the future, will support the Wi-Fi streaming standard later this year.
