Video: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G hands-on

Samsung is doing many things right these days. They have positioned themselves as an Android leader by launching several desired devices (Galaxy S II 4G, Galaxy S Infuse 4G), and will also be releasing the new Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Wi-Fi version is expected to be widely available in Canada late August at various retail outlets. However, a “4G” model will be available on Canadian carriers this September.

Last night at the Rogers Infuse 4G launch party event there was also a bunch of these 4G Tab 10.1 tablets hanging around (this is not confirmation that Rogers will be releasing it, Samsung just brought them there). I captured a quick hands on and it’s impressive. Incredibly thin at 8.6 mm, the 10.1-inch display has a resolution of 1280 x 800, SIM card slot is near the volume rocker, runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb and has TouchWiz overtop. As you will see in the video there is a new launch bar, improved notification screen (don’t need to going into the settings anymore) and re-sizable widgets (Samsung has their own too). In addition, Samsung will also be including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

No word on price points for the 4G version. We’ll have more info on the official release date soon.
(Thanks Paul!)
