Fire Emblem Heroes, Nintendo’s third mobile title and the first smartphone/tablet title in the series, is now available for iOS and Android in Canada.

This mobile entry in the Fire Emblem series follows the release of Miitomo, a Nintendo social network, and Super Mario Run, a mobile take on the iconic Mario franchise.

Fire Emblem Heroes is free-to-play on both Android and iOS and features the series classic turn-based gameplay. On the downside, the game also includes in-app purchases call “Orbs” that limit the number of times a player can attempt a state.

Players start at 50 Orbs, with one depleting per each stage and a single point charging per hour. Three orbs are currently priced at $1.99 USD (approximately $2.59 CAD), but Nintendo notes that orbs can also be earned for free.

While Super Mario Run has been criticized for its hefty $13.99 price tag, I’d far prefer this business model to paying to continue playing a game.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available on iOS and Android for free. We’ll have more about Fire Emblem Heroes on MobileSyrup in the coming days.
