Huawei is reportedly ‘doing the Nexus again this year’

When a benchmark came out last week identifying a new, more powerful version of the Nexus 6P, we here at MobileSyrup were skeptical of its authenticity. After all, the current word on the street, according to the latest rumours, is that we’ll get two new HTC-made Nexus smartphones this year.

Well, it looks like a new Huawei Nexus may, in fact, be in the cards.

In an interview with GearBurn, Charlene Munilall, general manager for Huawei’s Consumer Business Group in South Africa, casually dropped this tidbit: “We’re doing the Nexus again this year, by the way.”

We’ve contacted Huawei to confirm Munilall’s comments — so stayed tuned — but if all the rumours we’ve heard are accurate, then it means Android fanatics will have three new Nexus phones to choose between come this fall.

As a refresher, the new and improved Nexus 6P will reportedly ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM.
