The most used Android app in Q4 2015 might surprise you

If you asked someone what they thought the most used Android app in 2015 was, they’d likely suggest Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, or any number of other social-focused apps. The actual answer to this question however, will likely surprise you.

According to app analytics tracking firm Drawbridge, the most used Android app of Q4 2015 is Clean Master, an app management platform. The app reportedly received over one trillion in-app ad requests in October, November and December, and also ended up being the application with the most unique users. CM security, a security focused Android app, came in a close second.

Despite the fact that app killers aren’t necessary, and often do more harm than good to Google’s Linux-based operating system, some Android users continue to be drawn to them. While viruses and malware are a rarity when it comes to Android, there’s an incorrect perception they remain common issue for the operating system.

These stats should be taken with a grain of salt, however, as not all Android apps feature in-app advertisements. This means that tracking advertisement requests is likely not the most accurate way of recording app usage.
