New video game convention coming to Mississauga in October

This is particularly notable as there aren't a lot of consumer video game shows in Canada

VGLX 2025

A new video game convention for fans is coming to the Greater Toronto Area this fall.

Organized by XP Gaming, the Canadian organization behind the successful XP Game Summit conferences, VGLX (Video Game Live Expo) will take place on October 25 and 26 at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

Across the two days, VGLX is promising playable games, dance arcades, indie developer spotlights, TCG vendors, esports competitions (including those for Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8), cosplay and artist alleys and more. So far, confirmed VGLX partners include the Canadian Game Awards, Incendium Gaming, and Interactive Ontario.

Tickets are now available on the VGLX website. Single-day Saturday admission is priced at $25, while a Sunday ticket costs $20. A weekend pass is also available for $35.

The announcement of VGLX is pretty notable, given that there aren’t many consumer video game conventions in Canada, especially considering what’s available in other countries, like PAX in the U.S., Gamescom in Germany or the Tokyo Game Show in Japan.

Meanwhile, Fan Expo Canada has largely scaled back its gaming programming, while the PAX-like Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo (EGLX) held its last event in Toronto in 2019. The largest consumer gaming event in Canada, then, is Game Con Canada, which was held in Edmonton last month and focuses on both video games and tabletop games. All the while, Canada’s video game industry is one of the largest in the world.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of VGLX as we approach October. We plan to keep an eye on the event and cover more, so stay tuned.
