Samsung is still unsure whether it will release another super-thin smartphone to rival the iPhone Air, after sales of its inaugural attempt (Galaxy S25 Edge) were “comparatively lower” than other devices.
The information comes from a Bloomberg interview on Thursday with Won-Joon Choi, the chief operating officer of Samsung Mobile, following the debut of the company’s brand-new Galaxy S26 lineup.
Similarly, Samsung also hasn’t committed to releasing another trifold device (which costs about C$3,418, mind you), but Choi did hint that the company is working on a wider version of its Galaxy Z Fold that could mirror what Apple is planning for its first foldable model.
Choi noted that Samsung is “considering all different options” for the single-folding category, while also aiming to give users “as many options as possible, (with) the best solution possible.”
Interestingly, the model is sold out across Samsung’s website and is currently gathering customer feedback about the device.
Circling back to the Edge, Choi said sales of the device (which looked to beat Apple to the slim phone market) have been “relatively lower than other lineups.” With that in mind, Choi added that the company is evaluating the line’s future, and a follow-up isn’t a sure thing.
“People have different taste and requirements and different criteria in selecting their device,” Choi noted to Bloomberg. “We haven’t made a decision when to have a next one, but it’s still being considered.”
