Bad news for folks waiting for the Galaxy S26 — Samsung is considering hiking prices on its upcoming flagship devices.
With the current semiconductor shortage, the company has struggled to price the next major line of Samsung smartphones.
According to a report by South Korean business outlet The Bell, the problem is mainly associated with “the continued rise in price of key components, including semiconductors.”
Even a recent interview with Bloomberg conveys a similar message, as Wojin Lee, president and head of global marketing at Samsung, said that the company is, “going to be at a point where we have to actually consider repricing our products.”
This follows a report from Counterpoint Research that stated Samsung’s DRAM division broke the company’s revenue records by bringing in US$19.2 billion (roughly C$26.7 billion) in Q4 of 2025 alone.
All things considered, this shouldn’t be a complete surprise. Back in mid-December, it was revealed that some mid-level brands were considering lowering the specs of their phones, while others were increasing their prices. Either way, it was reported that the changes were set to appear in Q1, 2026.
