Canadians can get 50% off Starlink Standard Kit, discounted service

The monthly service fee is discounted to by $25 to $115/mo for the first year

Starlink is offering Canadians a discount on its service for the first year, alongside 50 per cent off the Standard Kit.

The deal applies to both the Residential and Residential Lite packages. The discount reduces the total price for the Residential package to only $115/mo, which is $25 less than the standard $140/mo rate. The cost of the actual device itself is reduced to $249, compared to the regular price of $499. The Standard kit comes with the Starlink satellite, kickstand, and the necessary cables. There is also the option to include different mounts or a mini router with your order; however, those do cost extra.

The company also notes that Starlink is self-installed, and the website does have different installation tutorials and video guides to make setting up the device easier.

The Starlink kit also comes with a 30-day refund, so if it isn’t up to your satisfaction, you can send it back to Starlink and get your money back. However, as we previously noted, if you change your address, fail to pay on time, transfer your kit, or cancel within the 30-day period without returning the kit, the company will charge a fee.

In terms of availability, Starlink has an interactive map on its website that shows availability in a bright blue colour. Currently, most of Canada has availability, with only one tiny region in B.C. listed as unavailable.

But while Starlink is available, it might leave Canadians with a tough decision. There’s a lot of ill will between Canadians and Elon Musk, the billionaire who owns Starlink parent company SpaceX, as well as Tesla, the website formerly known as Twitter, and more. And for good reason — Musk backed U.S. President Donald Trump, who repeatedly attacked Canadian sovereignty and the economy with tariffs. This even sparked Ontario Premier Doug Ford to terminate a $100 million agreement with Starlink.

While some might not want to contribute financially to one of Musk’s companies, there aren’t a lot of alternatives right now. Per a February report, Starlink remains the best option for rural Canadians even as download speeds fell. And Canadian satellite alternatives are still months or years away from offering service.
