Google will reveal a new Android Auto media interface at its upcoming annual developer conference, according to a teaser found within the company’s I/O 2018 iOS app.
On Monday, the search giant updated the app to add new event descriptions and an updated map of the Shoreline Amphitheatre.
Included in the update is mention of an Android Auto sandbox. A sandbox is what Google calls a demo area devoted to one of its core products.
Via the description, the company promises attendees will be able to see a “brand new media experience for Android Auto, both on your phone screen and on your car display.”
Google goes on to add that the new Android Auto will make it “easier and faster than ever before” for developers “to surface content to users,” before concluding that it will showcase first and third-party apps that have been “adapted and optimized for the for the new automotive interface.”
Among the optimized apps are Maps and Assistant, as well as the Play Store.
We’ll have to see what the company has in-store for Android Auto users, but any update is exciting news.
