since i am a big fan i will buy it.

How would it make sense to sell when the Jays have been huge contributors to Rogers profits over the last 2 and a half seasons?

    • thereasoner

They are selling high after buying low with the team and dome worth around 1.3 billion now as per reported estimates.

I agree completely. But the brand, and the fact that their are the only mlb show in Canada had value. Whether they see that value pay off in the future is another story. They must have numbers to show that it’s better to cash out now

They don’t see long terms. Shareholders only want to see the money NOW

  • Marshall Davidson

They never should’ve bough this team in the first place.

As long as the new owner doesn’t pull a Calgary Flames type hostage situation with the stadium.

It’s a bit silly to say that this is good news for Blue Jays fans. The Jays haven’t won a championship because it’s hard to win a championship, not because of meddling or cost-cutting by ownership. They play in one of the most competitive divisions in the league, and they’re far from a bottom feeder with a talent-barren roster.

In my opinion, the only annoying thing that Rogers did was to needlessly rename the SkyDome to Rogers Centre.

Rogers was not why the Blue Jays failed to make the playoffs from 1994 to 2014. In fact, should Rogers sell the Blue Jays, fans of the team (me included) can salute Rogers for the extensive broadcast support they gave the team through Sportsnet and other media holdings (even though it was entirely self-serving for Rogers to do it).
