Facebook has launched a new security checkup tool for its Android app, allowing users to log out of the social network from browsers and devices they haven’t used in a number of months and improve their password’s security.
The tool also has the ability to send out login alerts notifying users of unauthorized account access. Facebook launched Security Checkup on desktop early this summer and is now rolling out the service to Android users. It’s unclear if the company also plans to launch Security Checkup on iOS at some point in the near future.
In a statement sent to MobileSyrup, Facebook said, “We build these tools because we believe it’s important for people to be proactive about security and not just wait for something bad to happen. Educating and empowering people gives them more personal control and helps them learn good security practices that they can use on Facebook and other places online.”
Facebook’s Security Checkup tool can be accessed via the platform’s Facebook Help Center in its Android app, or via desktop at Facebook.com/securitycheckup.
While a simple tool, Security Checkup is very useful for anyone who logs into Facebook on multiple devices.
