Over the weekend, U.S.-based camera retailer Adorama began accepting pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy View.
If you’ve never heard of the Galaxy View, there’s a good reason: Samsung has yet to officially announce the tablet.
Moreover, with a reported MSRP of $600 USD, the intended market for this device is a bit of a head scratcher. All the leaked marketing material position the 18.4-inch 1080p tablet as a TV replacement, but it’s possible to get a 20-inch HDTV for a fraction of its price. Granted, said TV won’t be portable or double as an Android tablet, but then the Galaxy View isn’t the most well-equipped Android, either. With a 119.72 pixel per inch pixel density, the View’s display won’t be winning accolades for its clarity and sharpness.
Likewise, the reported 2GB of RAM, octa-core Exynos 7580 processor and 32GB of internal storage that round out the View’s spec sheet mark it as a reasonably powerful tablet but not best in class. Still, that carrying handle on the back is nifty.
Update: Reputable device leaker @EVleaks has once again brought forth a press image of the Galaxy View and shows the 18.4-inch 1080p tablet from all angles.
