Over the last five years or so, we’ve seen a lot of our computing shift from desktop to mobile. The advent of tablets, smartphones, and cloud-connected productivity software has made it easy for us to work on the move. However, some things just aren’t as comfortable on mobile.
Microsoft is hoping to optimize the Excel mobile experience with a brand new keyboard app that it just launched today. This keyboard features a 10-number numpad as well as a tab key for quick navigation of columns and a special keyboard layout that prioritizes Excel operators.
This keyboard is part of Microsoft’s Garage program, which is the company’s catch all name for all the spare side projects, hackathons, and coding Microsoft employees do in their spare time. Because it’s experimental, this Android keyboard supports only English characters and there’s no auto-correct or gesture typing.
