ZTE Grand X Plus was designed in Canada, now available at Fido

This might be a few days old, but it’s certainly newsworthy. ZTE recently opened an R&D centre in Ottawa and the fruits of its labour are finally seeing the light of day. The ZTE Grand X Plus, with its 5-inch display, is now exclusively available at Fido. Dubbed the “first handset designed in Canada,” it bears a stamp to that effect right across the back of the phone.

Other notable specs of the LTE-enabled Grand X Plus are a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, an 8MP camera and Android 4.4 KitKat. Priced at $0 on a two-year Smart plan, $50 on a two-year Standard plan, or $200 with no contract, this phone is positioned for the entry-level market.

“The Grand X Plus represents a big achievement for ZTE, our first smartphone designed by Canadians for Canadians,” said Denson Xu, CEO of ZTE Canada. “We’re very proud of its performance and exceptional value. Customers can enjoy all the benefits of a high-end smartphone at a fraction of the price.”
