Google Maps is the latest of Google’s assets to receive a Material Design overhaul, complete with a bright, solid colour scheme in line with the company’s other app redesigns.
Maps is one of Google’s most-used services, and the update, rolling out to iOS and Android devices over the next week, “is all about creating surfaces and shadows that echo the real world; with Google Maps’ new material feel, layers and buttons come to life so you know just where to touch to get directions, recommendations and imagery,” Google says in a blog post.
While the app continues to make it easy to discover interesting places around you, Google has improved Uber integration, adding estimated route price from one’s current location to his or her destination.
OpenTable integration has been added for US-based customers (hopefully coming soon to Canada), too, which is a nice way to book a table at a restaurant.
The app is available for Android at APKMirror, and will be rolling out to the Play Store in due time. The iOS version is not yet available.
