Notifications have never been a sore spot for Android users, but even the best can stand some improvement.
Floatifications, formerly Floating Notifications, attempts to augment Android’s traditional drop-down notification bar by mimicking Facebook’s Chat Heads style. The most recent update introduces a ticker style, too, which emerges on top of any app, even fullscreen ones like games, that can be ignored or actioned at will.
In version 1.7, the app also adds a fullscreen-only mode, so users can make the best of both worlds — the traditional notification shade for most apps and a ticker or pop-up for the rest.
The app comes with a 14-day trial period, after which it costs $1.99 to continue using it. Because it is so customizable, there is likely to be a use case for most Android users, even if it is just to see the occasional text or email while playing a game.
