If your New Year’s resolution was to code BlackBerry 10 apps, the BlackBerry Dev Relations team just gave you some additional motivation: BlackBerry 10.2.1 SDK OS has gone gold. The 10.2.1 gold release, which is notable for its updated Android runtime, also features a bunch of bug fixes caught after the beta release in November. Sadly, while Mac devs get a new simulator with the gold release, it does not also come with a Mac 10.2.1 autoloader.
BlackBerry also announced today that long-running headless apps (i.e. apps which run in the background and are not under direct user control) can be published to BlackBerry World with the global consumer release of BlackBerry 10.2.1. BlackBerry says to expect the OS update “in the near future.”
