Chrome for Android beta is adding a feature that has been on iOS since 2007.
All kidding aside (but not really), Google is giving users the power to create homescreen shortcuts from within the app, mimicking the look of a native app icon. Adding it is easy: just hit the menu button on the top right of the browser and tap “Add to homescreen.” It will appear on the homescreen as long as there is room.
Like in iOS, developers can add the option to open the link in a fullscreen window, lending even more of an app impression. With HTML5 getting more comprehensive, and browsers getting faster, the markup language is becoming even more useful.
Google is also adding an overhauled New Tab screen for some users. This mimics the desktop version, bringing a dedicated search bar and the last few visited sites in a horizontal scroll bar.
