Google rolling out new Search app for Android, brings redesigned results and people notifications

Google is rolling out another version of its Search app for Android, bringing the “more beautiful search results” it promised in a blog post a few weeks ago.

While the changes themselves are rolling out gradually, users in the US can now activate a search by saying, “OK, Google,” something that was spotted by Android Police in a recent APK teardown. While this does not affect Canadians just yet, it opens up the door to voice activated search across all Android devices running Google Now, not just those with specific hardware like the Moto X.

Another feature to debut in this release is the ability to follow and receive updates on people searched for on Google. For example, if you search for Phil Kessel, you may find out that he’s gotten into another fight or received even more money for his awesome hockey skills.
