You can rest easy if you’re worried about the WiFi performance of the Rogers HTC One X — the hardware fault affecting the antenna seems to be relegated to the Tegra 3 model. While this jibes with what we’ve thought all along — our Snapdragon S4 One X has fantastic WiFi signal.
HTC sent along a message to various sites today, taking responsibility for the fault and promising to clear it up in the future:
“After investigating isolated reports of WiFi connectivity issues in the HTC One X, we have identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the WiFi antennae connection points. While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future. HTC is committed to making sure every customer has a great experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused while we conducted a thorough investigation.”

We’re glad HTC is taking this seriously, and not trying to downplay their responsibility. For a flagship device the One X has already had a few controversial issues, and the company needs to do everything it can to keep the brand strong.
