There hasn’t been a hint of any new Windows Phone 7 devices coming to Canada – which is really unfortunate as we’ve been peddling along since November of 2010. However, hidden within the contest rules of Microsoft Canada’s “Mango-app Challenge” are some possible upcoming launches. How do the code names “Samsung Yukon, Samsung Wembley, NOKIA Searay and NOKIA Sabre” sound? These will all run Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and have an “estimated retail value” of $600. There’s still a massive amount that’s unknown. The “Searay” was carefully and strategically leaked by by Nokia CEO Steephen Elop a couple months ago, but what’s the Sabre? The rumoured specs are that it’s a mid-range device that could have a 3.7-inch display. Next there’s the Samsung Yukon and Wembley, one of these is most likely the device that looks similar to the Galaxy S II, but running Mango.
More will probably come out about the Searay and the Sabre at Nokia World next month, but so far what we are hearing is that Canada is not scheduled to receive any new WP7.5 devices until later next year. Got to hand it to both Samsung and Nokia as those are pretty cool device names.
