“BBM Music” app might give ability to share music between BlackBerry Messenger users

BlackBerry Messenger is one of the main reason people love using their BlackBerry, it’s easy and free. It’s been rumoured for a few months now that RIM is looking for a ways to monetize this and bring in some extra money. With the upcoming release of finding new ways to BlackBerry App World 3.0 some details have started to unfold. It seems that a new feature/app called “BBM Music” will work with BBM and gives owners the ability to share music that’s on their smartphone. Apparently RIM will also be creating their own music library that will based on a subscription model, possibly costing $4.99 a month.

RIM needs to stop copying features which others offer and start to bloody introduce new kick a*s capabilities!

    • Fatz

      what features are those?

Ian’s been grinding out tons of posts lately.

  • Stimulator

Do they make you adhere to CanCon rules in your music sharing?

  • KidCanada

Not paying an extra $5 for this on top of the data plan. Sorry RIM..

  • JSmith

Just allow me to send music files larger then 6MB and I’d be happy.

BlackBerry Messenger is not free to start with, you have to
pay via your cariers in order to access this service.
Sale of BB are dropping by days, and what they come up with -
charging you more money? way to go BB.

WTF are you talking about. BBM uses data. Either you get Data for internet / emails & BBM or you get Data for emails & BBM. One or the other. Please read & look at things before you talk.

If Apple did this it would be the best thing since slice bread.
If it’s not Apple it not right.

      Sliced bread is overrated.

    rim….ok…what else you got?

  • mr bob

Author must not have a BB, cause BBM is free, as in RIM is free to charge an extra $20 a month to use the BBM service.

You pay more for BB data than smart phone data, got it M@#$%

    • Dimitri

What are you talking about? U pay 15 a month for bbm and email. You pay 25 for 500 data or 30 for 1gb. Which one is less. Do some research. I use bbm very single day and yet never once have I gone over 1 gb or less. You need to look around and actually use a blackberry before u pull stuff out of your a*s.

  • KidCanada

@Dave – grab an activated bb and turn off data in the mobile networking settings, see if it will send messages.

  • saffant

In Regards to BBM… why pay extra for something u can pretty much get for free. There are tons of other free BBM alternatives.. better too since they run on multiple platforms. All u need is a data plan which undoubtedly gives u heck of a lot more than a sole BBM plan can offer.
