Mobilicity adjusts $35 plan to include Voicemail, Call Forwarding, Three-Way Calling and Call Waiting

Mobilicity launched with 6 plans with various features and various pricing that ranges from $15 – $65 per month. There’s no word on how many people have signed up or which plan people are subscribing to. Since their official Toronto launch they have adjusted some Unlimited plans and today announced that they’ve added Voicemail to the $35 plan. This basically saves customers $8 a month. We wonder since it’s still a relatively new if they’re considering giving a credit to those who did sign up for the $35/month plan over the past couple months. Would be a nice thing to do to keep customers happy (especially with Chatr launching soon).

Update: A press release just went out that states it’s actually the new features were set up just in time for the heavy “Back-to-School” season and that it’s “giving students and parents even more reason to take advantage of the innovative new carrier’s unlimited 3.5G network.”

In addition to the free voicemail, Mobilicity has also included in the $35 plan Call Forwarding, Three-Way Calling and Call Waiting. In addition they added two new Unlimited International Long Distance add-ons: Unlimited Europe & Unlimited Central America/Latin America

The Unlimited Europe add-on provides unlimited calling to landline phones in select countries, like Greece, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as cities, such as Berlin (Germany), Dublin (Ireland) and Paris, (France).

The Unlimited Central America/Latin America add-on provides unlimited calling to landline phones in Argentina, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey in Mexico.

President of Mobilicity Dave Dobbin said “Canadians are looking to get more for their money and our $35 plan sets a new standard in value. It’s the best unlimited wireless deal in town and offers the benefit of being on a fantastic 3.5G network customers can count on. Pay one flat fee plus tax and that’s it. Parents don’t have to worry about their kids racking up texts or minutes. And students can budget their funds better knowing they won’t get dinged for more money at the end of the month. With Mobilicity, you’re ensured bill certainty.”

As with Mobilicity’s existing Unlimited Asia Long Distance add-on, each of the new offers can be added onto any Mobilicity plans $35/month and higher through August 31, 2010. The Unlimited Asia add-on provides unlimited, convenient direct-dial calling to India, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Mobilicity also offers very competitive pay-per-use long-distance rates.

  4. A wireless carrier *adding* features? And not raising prices?? I’m not used to this, it feels weird.

  5. What about data? I’d be happy with 100MB for checking emails and surfing a few pages.

  6. Wind $35 doesn’t have unlimited text. Mobilicity is still better.

You can take a data stick or $65 unlimited data plan on phone.

Mobilicity data stick is $40 per month, Wind it $55.

  9. @Don

don’t worry Don. The feeling won’t last long once you realize that Mobilicity’s prices were actually higher than the average new entrant.

It’s just an illusion. They are correcting for something they should have offered from day one.

  13. Yes, great news for Mobi clients.

Though as for it being better than WIND is still relative to what ones prefers as WIND overs provincial calling at that price, Mobi doesn’t, but offers Voicemail and unlimited text instead.

  14. Yes, shouldn’t Mobilicity be launching in Montreal, too?

Public Mobile is out of the question since they use CDMA and don’t have data, and Videotron is nowhere in sight yet.

I’m actually considering getting a WIND SIM for Montreal because they charge about the same for their AWAY zone as Fido does for prepaid on their own network (for data WIND charges even less!).

  15. I think it’s interesting that they added the $8 Voicemail add-on and $5 Calling Features add-on to their Add-Ons Page.

From the looks of it, it seems that these will be a permanent fixture as there is no “Available Until” date attached to these particular add-ons.

I guess they heard customers pleas for more flexibility and the ability to add on features.

  16. Max – why would you say that? I’ve said this before, but mobi ssems like the only rational new entrant. The other guys are giving it away for free. Plus I heard WIND went bankrupt twice in europe before. This is what they do.

  17. Strange, if the inclusion of VM is a back-to-school special, that there isn’t an footnote indicating it’s time limited. Maybe Mobi’s lawyers are too busy preparing to sue Chatr to be checking the website. ;)

  19. TO JONJON

It will be a while before those companies go to Quebec. Too much red tape with language. Translating every single “front-line” administration, ad, hiring bilinguals, bilingual IVR systems, etc. That cost money. Until they get bigger, it is not feasable to even think about Quebec for all the hassle involved.
