Some iPhone 16e owners are reporting Bluetooth stuttering and other audio issues.
Reports have cropped up on Apple’s support community, Reddit, and other platforms about the ongoing issues, which involve audio stuttering or cutting out when streaming over Bluetooth.
iPhone 16e owners reporting the problem have experienced it across a range of devices, including headphones (even AirPods!), speakers, and in-car systems. In some cases, the problem is worsened by connecting multiple Bluetooth devices at once.
Frustratingly, users report that updating to iOS 18.3.2, the latest stable version, doesn’t address the problem. The Bluetooth issues also persist after a factory reset.
However, some users reported that installing the iOS 18.4 beta resolved the issue. That could indicate iOS 18.4 will fix the issue when it rolls out, but the software update isn’t expected until April, which means any 16e owners who aren’t willing to run beta software will be stuck for the time being.
Some users reported that disconnecting some Bluetooth connections temporarily helps. While that’s good for the time being, here’s hoping that a permanent solution arrives soon.
MobileSyrup reached out to Apple about the problem, but the company hasn’t acknowledged the Bluetooth issues yet.
It’s not clear how widespread the problem is — there are tons of reports online, but it doesn’t seem to affect every iPhone 16e. MobileSyrup’s creative director Brad Bennett, who reviewed the iPhone 16e, didn’t encounter any Bluetooth issues in his time with the device.
