Bluesky adds vertical video feature

Everyone is trying to grab a slice of TikTok's traffic

In the wake of the super short TikTok ban in the U.S., social media app Bluesky has added its own video video section.

This part of the platform is called ‘Trending videos’ and can be found in the app’s Explore or Search areas. At first, it seems like many of the videos are re-posts from TikTok, but as the controversy around TikTok grows, perhaps Bluesky will be able to pick up some of the slack.

If you don’t see the new video feature, make sure you’re on the most recent update and have restarted the app.

X/Twitter has done something similar with vertical videos on its platform, and Meta has revealed the beta version of a video editing app to replace ByteDance’s CapCut in case it gets banned.

TikTok was banned for a short period of time, but after being inaugurated, U.S. President Donald Trump pushed back the ban by 75 more days to try and entice ByteDance to sell TikTok to an American company — or maybe Elon Musk.
