Visual Intelligence gets better with iOS 18.3

There are major features coming for iPhone 16 owners

Apple has rolled out the release candidates in its beta track for the next generation of iOS, macOS, iPadOS and the rest of its software. While there are many updates coming soon, one of the most exciting is a new feature coming to Apple Intelligence.

iPhone 16 series owners will be able to hold down the Camera Control button to pull up Visual Intelligence. After iOS 18.3, the feature will allow users to point their camera at a flyer or poster and automatically add the show’s dates to their calendar.

Visual Intelligence will also add the feature to identify plants and animals. This was already baked into the Photos app, but now people can use it on the fly with Visual Intelligence.

Apple demoed these features at WWDC last summer, but since iOS 18 has been fractured into a few updates, this feature has been pushed back. Now that Apple has rolled out the release candidates for its suite of beta software, the full update will likely hit sometime next week.

This update should also smooth out the Apple Intelligence notification summaries. It does this by not using the summary feature for news and entertainment apps.
