A leak earlier this year suggested that the back of the 2025 iPhone 17 Pro would be made of more aluminum than before and have a glass window to allow for MagSafe wireless charging. Now a notable Chinese leaker has backed that up by claiming that they’ve seen supply chain materials that suggest the first leak is correct.
This leak also suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro may get a new camera bar design that’s an “elongated oval” instead of the square we’ve seen Apple use since the iPhone 11 series. Leaker Digital Chat Station seems to think the phone will look like this fan-made render, but since we’re so early in the release cycle, there could be significant changes and revelations still to come.

At the end of the day, it’s all rumours until we actually see the phones next September, but it wouldn’t be that surprising to see Apple change things up since it has been receiving more and more criticism each year for not altering its design.
That being said, I assume that restructuring the camera module will force Apple to make a lot of internal changes to its current design. The company has been tweaking and perfecting this design since 2019. While it outwardly didn’t receive much change, the internal structure has improved a lot, making it a lot easier and more cost-effective to repair. There’s no doubt in my mind that Apple can bring these upgrades to the iPhone 17 series even if it changes the camera bump, but it still feels like it could refine the current design even further.
