Nintendo launching two Mario Kart Switch bundles this holiday

The Switch's expected end-of-year swan song also includes The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Super Mario Party Jamboree

Nintendo has revealed two new Mario Kart-focused Switch bundles that will be offered during this holiday season.

First, there’s a standard Switch bundle that includes a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online for $399.99. That’s the same price as the Switch on its own, so this means you’re getting the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a year of Switch Online (which normally cost $79.99 and $24.99, respectively) as a bonus. Notably, this is the same package that Nintendo has typically offered for Black Friday.

However, what is new for Canada is a Nintendo Switch — OLED Model bundled with a digital download of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 12 months of Switch Online. This costs $449.99, the same price as an OLED Switch on its own, so you’ll also be getting the extra Mario Kart 8 Deluxe copy and annual Switch Online membership (valued at $104.99 total) at no additional cost.

In a press release, Nintendo simply says that both bundles will be available at retailers “by October.” We’ll update this story once specific release dates are confirmed.

The bundles are presumably part of one last holiday push to drive Switch hardware sales, given that its currently unnamed successor console is expected to launch next year. In May, the company confirmed that it “will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year,” which ends in March 2025.

That said, the Switch still has a solid holiday lineup that includes The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (September 26th), Super Mario Party Jamboree (October 17th) and Mario + Luigi Brothership (November 7th). Meanwhile, third-party games like Dragon Quest III HD-2D RemakeFantasian Neo Dimension and Stray are also hitting Switch before the end of the year.

Nintendo isn’t the only hardware manufacturer releasing new SKUs this holiday. On October 15h, Microsoft will debut three new Xbox Series X/S models, while Sony will release the nearly $1,000 PS5 Pro on November 7th.
