Telecom news roundup: Fido, Virgin, Koodo raise prices [Sept. 6-13]

Meanwhile, Bell and Rogers dropped some decent discounts for existing customers

While there wasn’t enough telecom news last week to warrant a full roundup, we’re back this week with quite a few stories. Here’s all the telecom news you need to know this week:

Pricing and deals

Koodo offered some customers six months of free Apple TV+.

Fido emailed some former customers a $34/50GB win-back deal.

Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo raised plan prices by $5/mo.

Bell rolled out $39/50GB and $49/50GB plans for existing customers. Rogers followed suit a couple days later.

Public Mobile added bonus long-distance minutes to some plans.

Infrastructure

Fizz expanded service areas in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario thanks to partnerships signed under the CRTC’s MVNO regime.

The TTC dropped Wi-Fi from some stations.
