Sony has confirmed a special ‘PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation’ will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at 11am ET/8am PT.
In a blog post, the company simply said that the nine-minute stream will be hosted by PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny and “will focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.” However, it’s safe to assume this event will provide the official unveiling of the long-rumoured PS5 Pro, especially since it will feature Cerny, the face of PlayStation hardware.
People quickly spotted PlayStation’s unlisted, since-edited YouTube video titled “PS5 Pro,” as if there was any further doubt. It’s also worth noting that Sony even seemingly began to tease the console publicly just last week as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

This all follows months of leaks and rumours about the PS5 Pro. In particular, reputable outlets like The Verge reported in April a slew of potential specs for the console, which is reportedly codenamed “Trinity.” These include a GPU mode that is “about 45 percent faster” and a CPU mode “around 10 percent faster” than the standard PS5 and increased ray-tracing support. Additionally, some games are expected to receive overall higher resolutions and frame rates and be given special ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ branding.
Interestingly, Sony hasn’t held a full-blown PlayStation Showcase since May 2023, which some were expecting might be where the PS5 Pro would be revealed. However, a nine-minute presentation is clearly not that, so it remains to be seen when we’ll get a longer event from Sony.
