Sony Xperia Z1 shows its more professional side in official renders

Sony will undoubtedly launch its new high-end flagship on Wednesday, but we’re seeing the phone’s full dimensions a couple days before thanks to leaked official renders of the device.

The 5-inch 1080p Xperia Z1 will boast a 20MP rear camera capable of shooting 4K video (not necessarily a first), and all the latest specs to convince users to invest in “the best of Sony.” That it looks almost identical, at least on the surface, to the Xperia Z, may yet be a boon to its potential pick-up, but Sony already had a few benefits to work with. The Xperia Z boasts water ingress protection, along with dustproofing and clean design lines.

It also appears that the now-familiar ring from the Xperia Z will make its way to the Xperia Z1, along with the now-standard aluminum power button and tabbed SIM and SD slots.

The top-left camera placement belies a 20MP sensor and new G Lens technology, which will hopefully be a substantive improvement over the current-generation Exmor RS offering from Sony.

We’ll know all come Wednesday afternoon, so stick with us for a couple more days.
