LG says their upcoming quad-core LTE smartphone will be blazing fast, thin, have a long battery life, 1280×768 display

LG is on the prowl. They are getting ready to announce their next flagship device and we’ll probably see it officially show itself at the upcoming the IFA in Berlin. However, as much as they want to tease the device, probably called the Optimus G, it has potentially already leaked online. The Optimus G is expected to come with a 4.7-inch display, 13MP camera, run Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich and pack a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

LG sent out a press release today that indicated something impressive in coming, specifically that they intend “to set a new standard in the smartphone market.” They have brought together talent and innovation from their companies – LG Chem, LG Display and LG Innotek – to ensure that the upcoming “Quad-Core LTE smartphone” will have “blazing fast performance but also longer battery life, thinner profile, brighter display and a new touchscreen panel technology as a result of the vertically-integrated development process.”

First, let’s take on the battery. LG claims that they’ve “developed a new battery” that provides more power that other batteries in its class, without “compromising on size and weight.” There is no indication on the actual battery size, but LG states that a regular battery has a lifespan of 500 charges and this new battery – “a first for a mobile device” – has a lifespan of 800 charges. That alone is impressive and seems it would last all day.

The display uses what they call “True HD IPS+” and is “sharper than today’s AMOLED displays due to its high pixel density of 320ppi (1280×768 pixels)”… confirming what showed itself yesterday. In addition, LG has developed the “the G2 Touch Hybrid Display.” This speaks the the thinness of the device, specifically that the upcoming smartphone has a unibody design that “eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel,” thus reducing its size by 30%.

Bottom line, the Optimus G will be thin, powerful and have an impressive display.
