Samsung releases Galaxy S III kernel source for international version

The Galaxy S III was released last earlier this week in 28 countries — rather, the i9300 variant was — with its quad-core Exynos processor and 1GB RAM. Now Samsung, as per Android’s open-source requirements, has released the kernel source for the device, allowing developers to create custom kernels that overclock, undervolt and generally tweak the way the device works.

Because the North American variant(s) will use a different processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960, the kernel source for the i9300 is not compatible. But there will be many Canadians importing the quad-core version from sites like Expansys to take advantage of the larger developer community and improved graphics capabilities.

If you’re such a person, head on over to Open Source Samsung or XDA-Developers for more information.
