Nest Learning Thermostat now shipping to Canada, control your house via iPhone and Android apps

Nest Learning Thermostat is now shipping into Canada. This is clearly not a mobile device, but does have both an iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android apps to help you monitor the temperature of your house while you’re away. The Nest Learning Thermostat was designed by ex-Apple executive Tony Fadell (he’s called the “grandfather of the iPod”) and is beautiful. Gone is the clunky box and in its place is a modern circular device that’s outfitted with simple display and has Wi-Fi connectivity, which is where the app will come into play.

Nest says their thermostat has the ability to learn your habits and “can help save Canadians up to 20 percent on their home heating and cooling bills by automatically turning itself down when you’re away, guiding you to energy-efficient temperatures when you’re home, and by creating a personalized temperature schedule.”

As for the app, this gives you the ability remotely check the temperature of your house, edit schedules and check the heating and cooling system from the past 10 days. In addition, it apparently finds out if you’re saving energy, which translated into saving money, with the Nest Leaf.

We’ll do a hands-on of the Nest Learning Thermostat, specifically the app, shortly. If you want to score this for your place it’ll cost you $249 USD ($255 CDN).
