Boston Pizza testing support for mobile payments in some GTA locations

Boston Pizza smart phone application

Boston Pizza is testing support for mobile payments at some of its locations in the Greater Toronto Area.

The functionality will be added to its Boston Pizza app, available on iOS and Android. Boston Pizza is partnering with MyCheck’s MyRestaurant program. MyCheck helps companies integrate mobile payment systems into their apps and existing point of sale systems.

For Boston Pizza’s test restaurants, this means guests will be able to check in with the app, redeem personalized rewards, review their bill, split it and pay it using Apple Pay or a credit card. There is no word yet on Google Pay support.

Additionally, guests will receive digital receipts via email and receipts will be saved digitally on the Boston Pizza app as well.

“Through this partnership with MyCheck, we are evolving MyBP from a loyalty app to a multi-feature platform, aimed at creating enhanced experiences,” said Cavin Green, Boston Pizza’s vice president of business technology.

“Today, guests no longer have to wait for a server to bring them the bill. They can control their dining experience from their smartphones. This is the way of the future, and this is yet another way that Boston Pizza is looking to offer remarkable hospitality.”

It will be exciting to see how this test plays out for Boston Pizza. Being one of Canada’s largest restaurant chains, a successful launch here could lead to more restaurants adding mobile payments.
