Here are Spigen’s best 5 iPhone X cases

Just like MobileSyrup has done with previous flagship smartphone releases, we’re taking a look at some of the best phone cases in Spigen’s iPhone X line-up.

While the iPhone X is a surprisingly durable phone, its aluminum bezels are undeniably susceptible to scuffs and scratches. The phone’s all-glass Gorilla Glass 4 rear is also a little more scratchable when compared to past iPhones — just like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus — though it does add wireless charging to Apple’s ultra high-end smartphone.

At $1,319 CAD, the iPhone X certainly isn’t the type of smartphone you want to risk breaking. Below are some of the best Spigen cases available for Apple’s latest smartphone.

Ultra Hybrid Matte Black and Rose Crystal

Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid option, which the manufacturer says remains its best selling case across the company’s entire line-up, is the ideal mix of style and protection. I prefer the Matte Black variation of the Ultra Hybrid, but the Rose Crystal is also a decent-looking colour option, though both cases are identical beyond the hue change.

I also noticed that the iPhone X case’s fit is particularly tight, which is actually great. This means that it’s difficult for dust and other debris to get behind the case and potentially scratching the iPhone X’s glass rear and stainless steel sides (I’ve had this happen with loose cases quite frequently).

Rugged Armor

I’ve never been particularly fond of Spigen’s Rugged Armor line of cases. Despite their sleek design, they always feel a little too bulky for my taste given the amount of protection they apply to a smartphone

That’s changed with the iPhone X’s Rugged Armor case, however. While the phone enclosure still provides a reasonable amount of all-around protection to the iPhone X, the case’s TPU body features a matte cover that ensures it doesn’t feel sticky, allowing it to easily slide into pockets.

More importantly, though, the iPhone X’s Rugged Armor case feels way less bulky when compared to other versions of the case.

Tough Armor

Coming in yet again as one of Spigen’s most heavy-duty protection options, the iPhone X version of the case is very similar to past iterations of the enclosure.

The Tough Armor case features full protection around the phone and rubber covers for all buttons, including the X’s Lightning port. Strangely, however, the case leaves a small hole in the back so the Apple logo is still visible (so does Spigen’s Rugged Armor case). Though a minor annoyance, for a case focused on protection this feature seems out of place.

Similar to other Tough Armor cases, the iPhone X iteration also features a handy kickstand. This is very useful if you often set the phone down on flat surfaces to watch a video. It’s worth mentioning that given the iPhone X’s compatibility with HDR10 and Dolby Vision, the industry’s two high-end high-dynamic range standards, as well as its overall impressive screen quality, this is something even I might actually start doing (I’ve never really been able to say this before about a smartphone display).

iPhone X Neo Hybrid

Spigen’s Neo Hybrid Crystal case shares a lot of similarities with the manufacturer’s Ultra Hybrid option, only with a firmer plastic body. The case itself is extremely tight — which I mention in the above video multiple times — though I see this as a positive because it actually helps protect the phone better.

Just like the Hybrid Crystal, the Neo Hybrid is see-through, allowing those concerned about a case covering their pricey iPhone X to still show off the sleek smartphone’s aluminum edges and sleek body.

Thin Fit

As always, Spigen’s Thin Fit case comes out on top for me. I like my smartphone cases to protect my device in case I accidentally drop it, but to also still be slim, adding as little bulk to the phone as possible.

Regardless of what device the Spigen’s Thin Fit case line is applied to, the enclosure offers the same positives. The plastic case is solid enough to provide a reasonable amount of protection but also manages to not comprise the overall design of Apple’s sleek iPhone X.
