Twitter Canada hires Jennifer Hollett as News and Government lead

After a few key departures, Twitter Canada has announced Jennifer Hollett as the social media platforms new Canadian News and Government lead.

This role was previously in the hands of Steve Ladurantaye, now the managing editor of digital news at CBC. Hollett will be responsible for forming content strategy with Canadian media outlets, government agencies and political new organizations regarding how they use Twitter and sharing the latest product features and development with the nest at Twitter.

Hollett has an impressive resume and has studied public policy at Harvard University where she obtaining an MBA. She also worked at Sony Music Canada in the 1990’s eventually landing jobs as a television reporter for the CBC, CTV and Much Music.

In addition, Hollett was the 2015 federal NDP candidate in University-Rosedale and also worked as the digital director of Olivia Chow’s 2014 Toronto mayoral campaign.

“As someone who starts and ends each day by checking Twitter, I am beyond thrilled to announce that I am joining Twitter Canada… Twitter has changed journalism and politics in unthinkable ways, driving democratic renewal. I’m excited to be a part of what comes next,” said Hollett in a statement to MobileSyrup.

Christopher Doyle, Head of Media, Twitter Canada, said, “Jennifer is a huge addition to our team from a strategy, insights and knowledge perspective. We jumped at the chance to add somebody with her background and she will no doubt with make huge contributions to Twitter Canada.”
