Google’s video chat app Duo to soon support audio-only calls

While Duo, Google’s new video calling platform, is focused on video, it seems the tech giant also has plans to launch an audio-only calling feature within the app.

Amit Fulay, Google’s leader of product communication, let the news leak in a response to a question on his Google+ profile. While not all users will be interested in this feature, those that want to make a call, but not appear on video, will be please to hear the functionality is on the way.

Fulay also noted that Google has plans to retool Hangouts to better serve business customers. Shortly after the launch of Duo earlier this week, Google revealed that its Hangouts platform isn’t going anywhere, though it emphasized that the chat service will shift towards a focus on enterprise customers.

Google launched Duo worldwide earlier this week.
