LG’s new V20 smartphone will be the world’s first Android N device

This morning, LG announced it will release a new entry in its V-series of smartphones. Dubbed the V20, the South Korean company plans to release the handset sometime this September.

The fact that a new V-series smartphone is on its way is not news; LG said it planned to ship a successor to the V10 during its most recent quarterly earnings report.

What is surprising is that the V20 will be the first smartphone to ship with Google’s new mobile operating system, Android Nougat. In what looks like a break with tradition, the newest edition of Android will not launch alongside a Nexus device. Engadget reports it has confirmed the news with LG. The company also shared the tweet you see below.

There’s not much other information on the upcoming smartphone, other than the fact it will ship with a dual front-facing camera, and the same dual screen setup found on the V10.

We’ve reached out to LG to find out if the V20 will launch in Canada. Stay tuned.
