HTC One mini will not receive Lollipop update

The HTC One mini was released in Canada last year on Rogers and Fido. While fans of the device, and its sequel, were expecting the Snapdragon 400-powered device to be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, HTC is now saying that “the HTC One Mini will not receive the Lollipop update.”

The news broke on Twitter when a person asked the company when Mini 2 owners could expect their devices to be updated to Lollipop. HTC replied by saying, “we determined that Lollipop on the One Mini 2 will not provide an optimal experience; it isn’t scheduled to receive the update.” The company later said that the One mini will suffer the same fate.

Unfortunately, HTC Canada’s software update page also shows no sign of Lollipop. Certainly not the greatest news considering the mid-sized smartphone launched 13 month ago, and was only updated once, from Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
