Rogers customers can now stream live TV through CTV Go

Bell Media has finalized a deal with Rogers to allow its cable television subscribers to stream CTV and CTV 2 channels from a web browser, smartphone or tablet.

Rogers joins four other BDUs, Access Communications, Cable Cable, Nexicom, and Northwestel, with support for Bell Media’s mobile initiative, which the company now claims is available to 90% of the English television subscriber base in Canada.

CTV’s SVP of Programming, Mike Cosentino, says the deal was pushed forward to ensure as many television subscribers as possible could watch the Academy Awards this Sunday, and sets a precedent for other TV Everywhere products in Bell’s lineup. The company also offers similar “second screen” streaming products through TMN, TSN, Discovery, RDS and CraveTV, though Rogers and Shaw customers don’t have access to the latter.
