Toronto-based Wattpad updates iOS and Android apps with offline access to millions of free e-books

If you’re a fan of reading on your mobile device you’ve probably stumbled across Toronto’s Wattpad. The company developed Android and iOS apps that provide its community of 20 million the ability to read free e-books on the go. A major update was pushed out today on both platforms that will possibly increase usability as they now allow for offline access so users can read, write, and comment without an internet connection. Here’s the complete list of updates:

  • Offline Access – read, write and interact even when you aren’t connected to the internet
  • Archive for Android – move read stories out of your Library and make room for new ones
  • Inline Commenting – tap text anywhere in a story to leave a comment and interact with the writer
  • Mobile Reading Lists- create, collect and share reading lists directly from the mobile app
  • Recommended Stories – discover your next favourite story based on your past reads
