Cineplex is commemorating the last weekend of the summer with a special promotion.
On September 5 and 6 only, the movie chain is offering $5 general admission (with the option to pay the difference for premium format upgrades) and $5 small popcorns. Tickets for these showtimes will be available for purchase starting on September 2. Note that the deal isn’t valid for non-feature film or Cineplex Events screenings.
Some of the movies playing in theatres right now include the two biggest releases of the summer, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, as well as Tony from Toronto’s Matt Johnson, Insidious: Out of the Further, the long-awaited Coyote vs. Acme (featuring the voices of Toronto’s Eric Bauza) and the new Barney-inspired horror-comedy Buddy.
Given that general admission and small popcorns cost around $15.25 and $8.50, respectively, depending on the location, this promotion is a pretty good deal. As always, it’s important to note that Cineplex charges a $1.50 online booking fee per ticket, although this gets reduced to $1 for Scene+ members and waived entirely if you’re a CineClub subscriber or purchase in-person at the cinema.
In other news, Cineplex also revealed September’s lineup of $3.99 movies.
