Google’s big Googlebook reveal is coming next month

Google has reportedly sent out invites to its Sept. 15 reveal event for the new laptop line

Google just recently launched a ton of new products, but the company is far from finished. The search giant is also prepping to unveil its line of Googlebook laptops in September.

Specifically, Google is hosting a media preview event in New York City on Sept. 15, according to invitations received by Chrome Unboxed. The company is expected to host a keynote to introduce the new laptop platform and demo hardware from partners.

Google first teased Googlebooks back in May. The company says it designed the experience around Gemini Intelligence and that it’s distinct from Chromebooks. Moreover, Googlebooks will feature a new, modern operating system with Google Play support.

Further, Google has repeatedly teased a unique ‘glowbar’ that will appear on Googlebooks. While we don’t yet know what the glowbar will do, it seems like it could work similarly to the HiLight feature that debuted on the new Pixel phones.

We know some of the features already, like the ‘intelligent cursor’ that can offer contextual suggestions based on what’s on screen, or the ‘Create your Widget’ function that allows people to create custom dashboards using connected Google services.

There’s a significant focus on Android compatibility, with features like using apps from your phone on the Googlebook, or easy file transfers between phones and laptops.

Finally, we know that Google is working with various hardware partners, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, to make Googlebooks. We’ve already seen leaks of Lenovo’s Googlebook, and we’ll likely learn more about the other hardware from the upcoming event.
