Freedom back-to-school deals boost wireless plans with extra data

Freedom Mobile revamped its plans and rolled out some new deals for back-to-school (BTS), including discounts on smartphones and other services.

MobileSyrup checked out the deals and picked out some of the most notable offers available.

Plans

Here’s a quick rundown of Freedom’s plans along with notable changes from what the carrier offered before.

Note that all of the below plans include Canada/U.S./Mexico data, unlimited Roam Beyond talk and text, as well as an allotment of Roam Beyond data for use in over 120 destinations.

• $35/10GB + 1GB Roam Beyond (unchanged)
• $40/70GB + 1GB Roam Beyond (prev. 5GB Roam Beyond)
• BTS – $45/125GB + 5GB Roam Beyond (prev. $45/100GB)
• BTS – $50/175GB + 10GB Roam Beyond (prev. $50/150GB)
• BTS – $60/250GB + 10GB Roam Beyond (prev. $60/200GB)
• BTS – $70/250GB + 20GB Roam Beyond (new)

While these plans look pretty good, it’s worth noting that Freedom cut the data it offered on several plans earlier in July, and the above BTS offers simply reverse those changes (e.g. Freedom downgraded its $50 plan from 175GB to 150GB on July 9, but now it’s back to 175GB for BTS).

Phones and more

Freedom has several other BTS deals for phones and other services. Notably, the carrier is offering a version of its $35 plan with 35GB of data for customers who activate a phone, as well as free TV for a year when customers add a mobile line and home internet.
