Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile has quietly reduced the data on some of its plans.
Essentially, Freedom’s two higher-priced plans and its mid-level $40/mo plan have been affected by the data change, with the top-tier $60/mo plan being the only “limited time offer” that was removed.
The drops aren’t a uniform amount either. Freedom’s $40/75GB plan has dropped by 5GB (alongside the merger of all bonus data) to $40/70GB. Freedom’s $50/175GB plan was reduced by 15GB to $50/150GB. Freedom’s most expensive plan saw the largest drop, going from $60/250GB to $60/200GB. Like the $40/mo option, this top-tier plan also had its data terms revised, with the mention of “bonus data” removed from the plan’s description.
Here is how the plans look now with the data cuts:
- $35/10GB Canada/US/Mexico-wide, 1GB of Roam Beyond data, unlimited talk/text in Canada and 120+ global destinations.
- $40/70GB Canada/US/Mexico-wide, 5GB of Roam Beyond data, unlimited talk/text in Canada and 120+ global destinations.
- $45/100GB Canada/US/Mexico-wide, 5GB of Roam Beyond data, unlimited talk/text in Canada and 120+ global destinations.
- $50/150GB Canada/US/Mexico-wide, 10GB of Roam Beyond data, unlimited talk/text in Canada and 120+ global destinations.
- $60/200GB Canada/US/Mexico-wide, 20GB of Roam Beyond data, unlimited talk/text in Canada and 120+ global destinations.
Honestly, even with the data reduction, these are still pretty good plans for the pricepoint. Telus-owned Public Mobile gets pretty close on price, but even at every level, Freedom offers some decent benefits that make up for having anywhere between 5-50 GB ripped from your next plan.
