New Mac releases could be delayed due to RAM shortages

Analysts say the price of RAM may not level off until next year or possibly even 2028

The ongoing RAM shortages continue to affect tech companies, with Apple’s upcoming releases currently in the centre of it.

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s upcoming Macs could hit delays brought on by the AI-induced memory shortage. Bloomberg’s sources say that delays are “plausible” for the Mac Studio, Apple’s high-end powerhouse of a computer.

The new Studio was supposed to come out this summer, but now, Bloomberg says that Apple is considering an October release. Fortunately for Apple, the company’s MacBook Neo has been selling well and appears to not have been affected by the shortage so far, though the newest member of the Mac family reportedly has its own supply issues.

Additionally, prices could rise between now and the release date. Multiple companies have raised prices of devices in recent months, including Microsoft, Sony, and others. According to Gizmodo, analysts say that RAM prices may not level off until next year or possibly even 2028.
