Apple’s development of foldable devices has long been rumoured. A report from Digitimes has stated that while the development of foldable iPhones is going smoothly, looking for a release in 2026, Apple has decided to pause its work on the foldable iPad.
Only rumored as a notebook-sized foldable device, it’s reported that Apple is stopping the development of this device for the time being while it focuses on the foldable iPhone.
According to Digitimes, the reason for the paused development is difficulties in manufacturing, higher production expenses, and modest consumer demand for this kind of device.
If these rumours prove to be true, it doesn’t mean a full stop to the idea of larger foldable devices. Apple can revisit these devices later when they become more feasible.
Originally, these devices were rumoured to be revealed between 2026 and 2028. Unfortunately, it seems Canadians will have to wait a little longer than that.
The foldable iPhones, however, are expected to launch next year, along with the iPhone 18 Pro models.
